The “Million Family March” is no different from the teachings taught in
Since the March I have been challenged by Christian after Christian confronting me with stupid, ignorant nonsense. It seems as though to me is that people are hung up on the
“messenger”
rather than the
“message”
. In Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism we are taught to put faith in the law and not the person. I hear this about Farrakhan and I hear that about Farrakhan however those who make the statements make no substantial or valid criticisms of this respectable man. In Buddhism we all have the “Ten Worlds ” from hell to Buddhahood and in my opinion the honorable Louis
Farrakhan is a wonderful
Bodhisattva
Message
Who can deny that we are not in a family crisis in the Black community? In
America among African/Americans the divorce rate is toppling 70% and among
almost all of our households we can find one family member involved with a
drug problem. I find it ridiculous that many criticize the messenger for bringing
a positive message that we must bring our families back together.
Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism regarding developing a family life. The
Gosho
passage from the “Gift of Rice” (major writings volume I page #269 reads)
“The Nirvana Sutra reads, “All scriptures or teachings, from whatever source,
are ultimately the revelation of Buddhist truth”. It also reads “No affairs of
life or work are any way different for the ultimate reality”.
I make this point very clear I did not shy away from the “Million Family
March” because I was an African/American Buddhist and not a Muslim;
instead I joined the “Million Family March” because I am an African and
African/American Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist. In Buddhism our practice is to
develop our Buddha nature. We do not become Buddhas by practicing
Buddhism away from society meditating in isolation upon some mountain. We
become Buddhas or a Buddha by practicing Buddhism in a natural way in our
every day life; struggling , growing and gaining wisdom in our everyday lives
by practicing doing
Gongyo
Renge-Kyo to the Gohonzon (True Object of Worship). Via chanting we gain
the Wisdom, fortune and vital life force to benefit from our experiences.
