W e who are lay Buddhist can augment our study of history with the teachings of Nichiren Shoshu and gain a clear insite into Buddhism. A keen insight can really strengthen your faith. Often times when studying world history or Buddhist history I often compare world history accounts with that of Nichiren Shoshu and each and every time Nichiren Shoshu is on top of it. When we compare teachings we must examine what is written. During my Buddhist study I sometimes attempt to pick up writings from our current Nichiren Shoshu 67 th High Priest Nikken Shonin. When studying some of our high priest lectures I put the lectures down quick, fast and hurry. Nichiren Shoshu 67 th High Priest Nikken Shonin is awesome on Buddhist teachings and the man is such a Buddhist scholar that you will not catch me trying to touch his stuff. The High Priest is so bad I just humbly shut up and I would be embarrassed for him to see some of my writings. In one Nichiren Shoshu magazine High Priest Nikken Shonin humbly wrote that it was okay for other Priest to correct him do to the nature of Japanese culture and if he said something in error. The High Priest understood that it was difficult for others to correct him if he was wrong but he wanted to create and atmosphere of democracy that even the High Priest can be corrected.

The High Priest lets us know that no one is above the true law. It is like the American Government where no one is above the law.

During my SGI days I purchased every book that Daisaku Ikeda wrote and at that time I thought that Daisaku Ikeda was the most brilliant man living. Because we were not exposed to a lot of the High Priest lectures I thought that Daisaku Ikeda was more knowledgeable than the Nichiren Shoshu High Priest. However when you compare the lectures or Daisaku Ikeda to that of Nichiren Shoshu 67 th High Priest Nikken Shonin you will discover that Daisaku Ikeda is just a child under Nikken Shonin when you compare their Buddhist knowledge.
