Tina Turner Mother of the Proud Black Buddhist
By Anthony "Amp" Elmore

Tina Turner is the first person in the history of a national and major African/American publication to be featured and recognized as practicioner of the "Buddhist Faith." The above February 15, 1979 Jet Magazine article featuring Tina Turner makes Turner "The Mother of Proud Black Buddhist." Jet Magazine was a weekly American magazine targeted at what was known as "Black Readers." Jet was founded in 1951 by John H. Johnson. John H. Johnson founded "Johnson Publications" the publisher of Jet magazine to uplift and bring dignity and pride to its African/American readers.

The February 15, 1979 Jet article featuring Tina Turner not only brings dignity and pride African/Americans this article is the essence of a "Proud Black Buddhist."  Not only is the article the essence of "A Proud Black Buddhist" this article is "historic" in that it is the first of its kind in the history and culture of African/Americans thereby making Tina Turner the "Mother of Proud Black Buddhist."

We at the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association" present more than documentary proof, we present "Proof of Actual fact" of Tina Turner historically as a "Proud Black Buddhist."  This makes "Tina Turner " The mother of "Proud Black Buddhist."
