Please look at my history to delineate how and why I evolved as a "Proud Black Buddhist." In 1988 I wrote, produced, directed and starred in the 1st Kickboxing film made in American history titled "The Contemporary Gladiator."  In 1981 I was the 1st person to bring E.S.P.N. to my home town of Memphis, Tennessee.  In 1983 the Memphis magazine named me 100 of the most influential Memphians.  In 1990 my film premeired in Nairobi, Kenya whereas I was given a "Hero's Welcome in Kenya" and in 1992 I met the Kenya President Daniel Arap Moi.

While I was the 1st in Memphis to produce Kickboxing events that aired of B.E.T. or "Black Entertainment Television" I was not allowed to film nor was I as a "Black Man" in Buddhism was allowed to tell his story. Via my movie "The Contemporary Gladiator" that was released in 1988 I was able to tell my story.  I left the SGI /NSA Buddhist sect in 1991 where as I wrote a letter explaining why I departed the NSA/SGI.

At time of this writing in November of 2022 my letter tells a historical story about NSA/SGI Nichiren Buddhism in America 31 years ago.  While I was a World Champion nationally noted Kickboxing champion in the Japanese Buddhist sects I had no voice.  This brings me to 1996 whereas my friend Shaka Khalphani  who owed me money and he worked for then "Northwest Airlines" Shaka arranged for me to travel to Japan in August of 1996 for a "Buddhist pilgrimage" at our over 800 year old Nichiren Shoshu head Temple at Taisekiji, Japan.

I took a video camera and a lab top computer to Japan in August of 1996.  I documented my story via video and writing a diary. While at the time of this writing "November 2022" I must make note that I was the 1st American to travel to Japan at the Nichiren Shoshu Temple and document via video speaking to Buddhist from around the world who were also Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist.

What is important is the fact that while I am no longer a "Former Member" of Nichiren Shoshu or the SGI Buddhist Sects I will always be a part of the Nichiren Buddhist family.  What is important is that I have pictures of Buddhist members in Japan, many are no longer living.  I want to upload the images, knowing that there are family members and those of us who have aged can learn from the history that I recorded.

Please note that before Nichiren Shoshu had a website for English Speaking members I had not only a website I was teacing history culture and Black language via my website 25 years ago.  I also want to make note that while I could video at the head Nichiren Shoshu Temple in Japan, I was not allowed to video at our temples in America.

Even while filming in Japan in 1996 and thereafter I ran into opposition.  I wrote Tozan Reports during my Visits to Japan.

Please click on the above picture to see the spirit Tozan. We were walking to visit the Head Temple called "The Shohondo."  They have since torned the temple down.  I was a hot summer day in Japan. I ran up and down with my camera to catch this Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism moment.  I added the Black Soul group "The Ojay's" singing the song "Stairway to Heaven."   I created a Black cultural story.  Many people in this video are no longer living.  This is a video to share about Nichiren Buddhism.
